Just For Fun

I promised you a popsicle, but it melted on the way.

I walked a little faster in hopes that it would stay,

just long enough for you, my dear, to have a little taste,

but it dripped so fast it was a shame to let it go to waste.

So I took a bite, then three or four to catch up every drip.

Believe it or not, I got it to stop,

with each satisfying sip.

A yummy treat you would have found delicious to the end.

Don't look so sad or grieve its loss, for your broken heart I'll mend.

I promised you a popsicle, but it melted on the way,

so I brought to you a lollipop, for I knew that it would stay.

Don't worry 'bout the missing piece, it's really very small.

I wanted to make sure the taste was tasty after all!
